Serve as a Discipler

Walk With Our Teens on Their Journey of Faith

Every young person needs someone who believes in them. As a Discipler with Teen Disciple, you have the opportunity to be that person for a small group of students in grades 6-12, helping them encounter Jesus Christ and grow in their Catholic faith during some of the most important years of their lives.

Why Serve?

You do not need all the answers. Disciplers are not lecturers or theologians. You are caring adults who show up, listen, pray, and share honestly about what your faith means to you. Our teens are not looking for perfect people. They are looking for real ones.

You make a lasting difference. Studies and experience both tell us that young people who have caring adults in the Church, beyond their own parents, are far more likely to stay connected to their faith as adults. Your presence every other Wednesday can shape a lifetime.

You answer the call of Christ. Jesus told His disciples, “Let the children come to me.” When you give your time to our teens, you help open that door. Serving as a Discipler is a way to live out your own baptismal call to share the Good News.

Your own faith will grow. Disciplers often say they receive far more than they give. Walking with young people through their questions will deepen your own prayer life, understanding, and love for the Church.

You belong to a community. You will not do this alone. Disciplers are supported with resources, training, and a group of fellow volunteers from across our parish family who share your heart for young people.

What Does a Discipler Do?

  • Meets with a small group of teens every other Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 pm
  • Shares a meal or snack with students before small group time
  • Leads guided discussions using provided materials
  • Listens, encourages, and prays with and for the students in the group
  • Helps prepare teens who are getting ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation

What Do I Need?

  • A love for Christ and a desire to share it with young people
  • A willingness to commit to the Teen Disciple schedule for the year
  • Completion of the diocesan Safe Environment training and background check (we will help you with this)

Serve Alongside Them

If you feel a tug on your heart, that may be the Holy Spirit inviting you. Please prayerfully consider joining our Disciplers and serving alongside them as they help our teens grow in faith, hope, and love.

“Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me.” (Mark 9:37)
