Every year, men and women from all walks of life feel a stirring in their hearts. Some have never been baptized. Some were baptized in another Christian tradition and are finding their way to the fullness of the Catholic faith. Some were baptized Catholic as infants but never completed their initiation. Whatever their story, they are searching, and the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is how our parish walks with them.
OCIA is not a class. It is a journey, and no one should have to make it alone. That is where our volunteers come in. The men and women who serve in this ministry are not theologians or professional catechists, though they are certainly welcome. They are ordinary Catholics who know what they believe, love their faith, and are willing to share it. They serve as catechists, sponsors, and companions, walking beside those who are on their way into the Church and offering the witness of a life genuinely shaped by the Gospel.
There is perhaps no greater privilege in parish ministry than to be present when someone receives the sacraments for the first time. To witness that moment at the Easter Vigil, when the waters of Baptism are poured or a hand is extended to receive the Body of Christ for the very first time, is to see the Church at her most alive.
If you feel called to be part of that, we invite you to explore the volunteer opportunities listed below and reach out to the parish office to take the next step.
